Mother to 5 Finishes School Free With Grant for Financial Aid
A few years ago I decided to try to finish getting my degree by applying for financial aid. I applied for the pell grant and got it! It was me and 2 oldest kids at the time, so times were tough. The youngest started his venture in kinder garden and I was off on my wait to try to make an example of myself by finishing school!

The youngest started his venture in kinder garden and I was off on my wait to try to make an example of myself by finishing school!
I looked on the internet and found a government site that allowed me to apply online, and there was no fees involved. The school I choose to go to received the information straight from the site. I was able to sign up for 4 classes at a local 2 year school. I was able to start right away. I was able to get all my books and classes covered. I was able to have some left over to help with child care.
I only went for one semester because, well life happens. I got married and had 3 more kids! Talk about life happening! Now, 8 years later, its just about time that I try again. My youngest is only 2, so I have a while yet before he starts school. I don't want to be in a class room while he's still so little. I did a little research and found out that I can take at home classes at the same school I was attending before!
Can you believe that? I don't have to find some online accredited school? That is right I can attend the same local school and on line video courses from home. How wonderful! I can be with my little man and go to my classes after he's in bed for the night or during nap time during the day. Everything is online! There is a forum, and discussion board to communicate with your teacher and class mates. At most I'll have to drive to the campus once or twice. Everything else is at home! And whats better still is that these online courses will be covered by the same grant that covered my classes the first time, the pell grant!
So my advise to anyone waiting until their little guy starts school so that they can finish school, is why wait? Go ahead and call local schools in your area and see what your options are as far as that goes. From what I have found from around here is that the classes are the same, the credits are the same, and I can do it whenever its convenient for me.
When my little man starts his journey in kindergarten, I won't be saying now that he's in school I can finish mine. Instead when he starts school I'll be starting to look for a job because I will have have earned my degree, and I will be able to use a pell grant to help me achieve this!
